The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) recently announced that nine Adrian College (AC) programs received the 2019-20 MIAA Team Grade-Point Average Award, which honors conference athletic teams achieving a 3.300 or better GPA for an academic year. Grade-point averages are calculated at the end of the academic year.

As a department, Adrian College athletics set a milestone with 203 MIAA Academic Honor Roll recipients, easily breaking the previous school record of 150, set during the 2018-19 academic year.

The following AC teams attained a composite 3.30 GPA or better (head coach in parentheses): women’s volleyball, 3.66 (David Kwan); women’s soccer, 3.64 (Ali Alamdari); men’s, 3.55, and women’s tennis 3.51 (Zach Elbin); women’s lacrosse, 3.48 (Brett Asher); women’s basketball, 3.46 (Kathy Morris); men’s soccer, 3.43 (Ryan McDonald); softball, 3.41 (Ashley Marinacci); and cheerleading, 3.39 (Kourtney Ouelette).

This marks the fourth-straight year Adrian College has seen an increase in Bulldog MIAA teams on this list, as eight were recognized in 2019-20.

The MIAA has presented the Team GPA Award each year since the 1998-99 academic year.
