Congratulations to Allie Langwald ’11 and her STEM team at Hope of Detroit Academy for being the first team from Detroit, and one of three national finalists to win the Samsung Solve for the Future Competition. The students were driven to help their community by creating an app that drops a pin where an abandoned lot is. After cleaning the properties up, they are turned into ‘tiny home’ communities for homeless veterans.  The Hope of Detroit Academy was awarded $130,000 for their school in technology and classroom supplies.
