Karen Baese Michalec ’90 recently compiled the letters of her military father, dating from 1954 to 1956, into a 300-page book, Dear Mom and All: Letters from a Military Son and Brother. Karen typed her father’s letters, along with her grandmother’s responses, which was released by Amazon Publishing in November 2018. Her father, Raymond Baese, was one of 12 siblings, of which he and his eight brothers had a continuous military service record. Karen is a social studies teacher at Owosso Middle School, and resides in Owosso, Mich., with her husband, John.
