Ron Elardo, Ph.D.

Ron Elardo, Ph.D., former English professor at Adrian College, from 1980 to 2007, died May 17, 2022. Ron lived near Hidden Lake Gardens in Tipton, Mich., where he was a volunteer and became a member of the American Conifer Society in 2008. A certified master gardener, Ron was hired in 2009 to serve as editor of the CONIFERQuarterly. Ron continued as the CQ editor for 13 years, making his the longest tenure of any editor. Ron’s academic and professional career focused on writing, editing, and language. He received a doctorate from the University of Michigan, a master’s from Purdue University, and a bachelor’s from the University of Buffalo. While at Adrian College, he held both academic and union leadership positions. Survivors include his wife, Susan Arena Elardo ’88, two daughters and a son, Joseph Elardo ’04.

    Clarification: Ron Elardo occasionally taught courses in English, but he was a professor of modern languages.
